HP DL360p G8 - Large Form Factor Storage for Less! Plus Mega Memory!

 

Welcome in to a new Deal of the Week, where we’re looking to help those of you who are down with running some older gear, perhaps for a homelab, to get some great value! Today’s units are the classic HP Proliant DL360p G8 that have been waiting to find the right owner that can make use of them. While they’ll surely be a great boon to your environment hosting 3.5” large form factor drives, we’re also gonna juice them up with a boatload of RAM to seal the deal!

With older DDR3 memory currently available at a low price, we’re loading this server up with 256GB of memory across 16 of the unit’s 24 DIMM slots. Running this with an older version of Proxmox, or a compatible Linux distro aimed at virtualization should make this unit into a handy VM box that isn’t concerned with running the latest software. It’s still worth noting that this server isn’t by any means a lightweight! This machine hosts 20 CPU cores, which still feature Intel’s Hyper-threading capability for added flexibility.

Worth noting, that as this is older hardware, our warranty coverage is for 60 days on this unit. While these servers can seriously last for years to come, we simply don’t expect to get more stock in for these units in the coming months and years to come. That being said, if you’re considering picking up a bargain server such as one of these, we highly recommend doing so while you still can!
